Hi I am a new member and this is my first post along for assistance. I just bought my 63 Ford F100 and noticed that the flywheel cover was missing. I have looked online and eBay but cannot find this part. What is throwing me off is that the previous owner told me the engine and transmission came from a 69 mustang. It's a 289 but I don't know weekday kind of transmission I have. Does anyone know what cover goes here and where i can find this cover?
Here is a pic of where it would go....
Thanks in advance for your help! !!
Thank you all so much for your help. So the FMX inspection cover is what I need. Does anyone know what thread screw that takes? Thanks Shadowrider for that pic learned how to identify them.
That's not a C4 or FMX. It's an AOD, which means you have overdrive. Didn't anybody notice the 10mm pan bolts and the "METRIC" on the pan, as well as "Automatic Overdrive" on it.
Great observation Mike. So is this a good transmission. Do I research aod for the flywheel cover? When were these used? Later years? Now I'm wondering what engine I've got.
AOD was introduced in 1980 and used until 1992 when it was updated into a full electronic controlled transmission. I can't tell you the specific year on it but if you post the casting number on the drivers side of the case, we can get real close. It's not a bad transmission but can be finicky with adjustments and such. Kinda interested to know what carb you're running and how it was hooked up. Possibly the motor and tranny are a matched set. If so, I don't believe you would have a 289, maybe a 302.
