I wanted to ask what is fair pricing on this part? its a timing cover for a Ford 302 non computer control.
I looked on ebay didn't find any new listed on there, I looked online all the hits was for the Dorman replacement timing cover for $80.
I hit up Green Sales and they have a bunch of them but quoted me $255 plus shipping which I already told them thanks but no thanks no way in hell im going to spend $255 plus shipping when I can buy a Dorman cover for $80.
Wondering what is a fair price for this as I am going to try calling some local dealerships tomorrow or this weekend.

I have the Dorman timing cover on my '84 302. I finally got to see it yesterday, picture below. I think it was $105 CDN on RockAuto, so that would be about $80 USD. I sold my original for $40 bucks. The only difference with the Dorman cover over my original, and it's nothing really, is that the Dorman cover has a hole for a front mount dipstick. It comes with plugs for the dipstick hole, and a cover for the mechanical fuel pump hole, so it is made to fit a variety of years obviously.
PS: You were asking in your other thread if the Edelbrock intake had a place to mount the coil. You can see below it is right in the stock location, albeit a little higher than the original (I think).

What kind of plug for the dipstick hole? A hammer in one or a threaded one?
I might damn try to tap it with a pipe tap if its a hammer in plug and thread in a pipe plug to ensure a good seal.
Holy crap that coil sits up high. I guess they did that so the fuel lines for the double feed carbs can clear the coil.
Yep I came across that one also, too much money in my eyes. I cant justify spending over $100 for an aluminum timing cover, Ford or aftermarket.
I could probably if the balancer didn't break mine up I could take and helicoil the water pump threads and fix my old one. But rather not go to the trouble since I have a feeling the balancer breaking up might have damaged the front seal area of the timing cover.
If you get this part from Advance Auto they sell it with a gasket and seal for $80.99. What I always do is order it online, but pick it up in the store. You can also get it shipped for free to your house since it's over $25.00. Then you go do a search for "advance auto coupons" on google. Sometimes you can find a 30% off code, so that would be $24.00 off the price, then you have to add tax. Sometimes you can't find a 30%, but you can usually find a 25% which would be $20 off. If you can't find a 25% off code, you can always find 20% off which would be $16 off. I always check RockAuto and then do the Advance thing with the coupon code, and see which one is the least amount.

If I go the Dorman route I probably will do that, get it online from advance and use a coupon then just either have it shipped here or pick it up at the store.

Hammer in plugs (it comes with a couple). Like mini-frost plugs. You could tap it in install a set screw or something if you wanted.
The coil is high, yes. I think I might mount mine in front of the head where the smog pump used to be anyway. There's a hole there that needs to be filled.

Sounds nice. I got the alternator/airpump bracket off a customers '82 F150 when we pulled his 302 out and put in a 5.0 coyote. I planned on using that bracket to cut the ears off for the air pump so I can keep all my original parts so if inspector once I move tries to make a big deal I can swap the parts back on as I still have them. Otherwise I am thinking of having the bracket powder coated black.
Im also thinking about doing the 3G alternator upgrade while I am at it as well.
On the plug, I might do the plug route. Maybe plug then back fill with JB weld to get a smooth look before paint/powder coating. I don't think I will do mine Ford Blue, might do it in an aluminum silver color if I powder coat it.
