I just bought a 1985 f150 with the 5.8 4v h.o. Windsor. It doesn't have the carburetor. what was the factory carb, and where can I get one that will just bolt to the manifold. thanks guys...
"Just bolt to the manifold" will be an issue because of the EGR passages that are present in the factory intake.
At the very least you will need a spacer that is made to block these ports off.
(or you will burn the insulator and boil your carb)
You are fortunate that it is a 351.
At least there are spacers made for the application.
460's (with the same carb) have an 'ear' in the plate that is impossible to seal.
I would get a Holley or Edelbrock aftermarket carb. Preferably a new one with a new inline filter, and that should take care of it. Something around 600cfm.
I would not mess with the original Ford/Holley carbs.
