I have a 78 400 w/ CA emissions. I live in NV and am wanting to put an edelbrock performer 3771 intake and a edelbrock 600 cfm carb model 1406. The edelbrock tech is telling me that this particular manifold only works w/ oem carbs and will not fit theirs. Anyone know if this is true? I already have the manifold and am waiting to get the carb. The whole point has been to get rid of the factory carb.
Thanks for any experience with these parts and any suggestions.
Ken
The 3771 comes with a separate EGR plate for fitting the factory 2V carb on it which makes it 50 state legal. You have to order the 8053 4V EGR plate which will allow you to mount any square bore 4V carb on that manifold.
That's true. The 3771 is 50 state legal with the stock 2V carb on it. When you install the 4V carb it becomes a "for off highway use only" vehicle. If NV does a visual check the truck will not pass emissions inspection with a 4V.
My charcoal cannister went floating off down the Chattahoochie River back in '92 and my air pump seized in '94. I have passed NV emissions three times since I moved here in '97with the system in that condition.
