I plan to do the same and have looked into it myself; as I understand it 300 and FE engines use the same engine supports. It should be relatively easy to get FE engine supports in most any junk yard from a 70's 4x4 pickup to swap in your Bronco.
Thanks for the input. That is my bad I thought that the 400 was a "M" motor, but is good to know. That is good to know that the towers are the same. I just need to move them forward to the next set of bolt holes? I know that as it is right now they are too far back. I still have the towers in the bronco from the 400 but they seem to be too close to the bell housing for putting the 300 in.
I have some more questions maybe you could help me with if you would please. I have a 1978 F600 wrecker with the big 6 hole lug pattern. I am looking at a F800 that I can get as a parts truck. The F800 has the Open center "California" wheels and was wondering if the front axle and spindles were the same. I lost the wheel bearings on mine going down the road and ruined the hubs and spindles but have another set of hubs. I was curious if my other F600 hubs would fit on the F800 spindles?

I need the AXLE code that is stamped on the Warranty Plate, also the GVWR and the size of the brake shoes, as there are 4 possible sizes for F600's, 11 (!) possible sizes for F800's.

No, I think you misunderstood the posting. The 300 will NOT work with your 400 towers. According to NumberDummy's post the 302 and 351M/400 2WD share towers for the years he specified (note the 300 is not included in his list). From what I know the 300 shares towers with the "FE" series of engines, such as the 360 and 390. You also cannot use 2WD 300 towers in your 4WD Bronco.
Lastly, to address the "and all" portion of your original question, you will still need the 300 motor mounts as the motor mounts for the 400 or FE series engines will not work, but you really should buy new motor mounts for an engine swap anyway (new motor mounts for both sides should only cost $20 or $30).
If the 300 I6 is going into a 4wd you will need a rear sump oil pan as well with P/U tube with mounting stud, dipstick, dipstick tube, and possibly an oil pump for the rear sump oil pan ..
