I would like some input on shift kits for the C6 in my 81 F250. I just rebuilt the engine and found that the machine shop was not as detailed as I had hoped. I have to pull the trans to check and probably reseat the rear freeze plugs.
So, since I have to drop the trans anyway, I am considering having a shift kit installed. I'm looking for the best in reliability and towing performance out of it. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on brand and part #.
This is the one I used. There's three modes. Normal duty, heavy duty/towing. And diesel. I used the normal duty with the optional firmer shifts. I also replaced my moulded rubber servo piston. As it was SHOT after 231,000 miles. I'm very happy with that kit. It firmed the shifts up slightly at light throttle, and when you get on it, it shifts really fast and firm!
Matthew- I did not see a valve body plate with that kit. May have been just my phone's display. Did it include one?
All- any opinions on the TCI, B&M, or Trans-go kits? A little research revealed that at least at TCI offers a towing shift kit. Everyone else calls it heavy duty, and seems more street rod oriented.

No, it does not include a VB plate. Neither does the Trans-Go. I did lots of research before I bought mine, and I came to the conclusion that most everyone who said they had the B&M hated it. You simply drill out one or two holes to the according size as you follow the instructions. Unless you're wanting to heavily modify the transmission, a simple spring kit like this is plenty fine. I'm about to put the same exact kit in a C6 that's going up against a 500 HP 445 FE. From what I gathered the Superior kit that I linked, and the Trans-Go kits are the best for the money.
I found these at Oregon Performance Transmission. I'm not 100% sure what I am actually looking at here. Matthew, are you saying you have the shift correction kit? I don't like eBay personally. I'd rather go through a vendor directly. OPT has both the Superior and Transgo kits on that page, so I need a little help with selection.
Use the Trans-Go then. I was going to buy the Trans-Go kit, but for my truck just being a daily driver and the extra cost I couldn't afford, I settled with the Superior kit. Either way, they're both very good kits.
