Help continuous running starter
As soon as it gets battery, even with ign switch off, starter is running and remains running. Is this starter solenoid (fender wall) or the starter itself?
(1989 460 / C6 4X4) This just started today, after the Miata wound up in the shop...
I first suspected the ignition actuator, but I pulled the wheel and it was fine. Put it all back together, When I reconnected the battery, key off, the starter was running, no FP at the rail, just cranked. With the key on, it started right up, 40ish psi, so I am not suspecting anything in the ignition circuit...

Yep, It was the solenoid. It's a symptom... The 2 possibilities are that the starter has worn bearings that don't like turning when warm, or the possibility my new rebuilt dist. has a bum stator. I can get a brand new starter from Napa for $80. The sound when trying to start hot is like something is really resisting rotation, the engine oil level is fine and it is just a couple of months old.

Just had that happen to my Landcruiser yesterday.
It was the solenoid.
Fwiw, I take my starters to a local rebuilder who does a much better job with better quality parts than the cheap rebuilds and China crap out there.
