Won't disengage?
Does it just keep cranking?
Or is it being driven my the engine?

If it keeps cranking it is likely the solenoid is at fault.
One way to tell is to disconnect the little red/blue trigger wire from the solenoid when this happens.
If it stops you have an ignition switch problem.

If it keeps cranking try knocking the solenoid.
If it stops then, the contacts inside have welded together due to high current draw.

If the starter is not cranking but is being driven by the ring gear you need a starter with a different depth of engagement. (3/8" vs 3/4" IIRC)

Make sure the key is returning all the way to the run position.

In addition to what these guys have said, there is a good chance you may also have a faulty starter. Where did you get the replacement starter? Rebuilds from the most common auto parts stores like AutoZone, Advance Auto, etc. are GARBAGE. I went through 3 different ones on my own truck until I finally just had my local auto electric rebuild shop rebuild the "rebuilt" one for me. And that goes for alternators as well. I have had much better luck with NAPA and CarQuest parts. Their parts in general seem to be of a much better quality than the others.
