what would be causing my left and right bank lean codes? truck still seems to run fine. I have also been getting number 6 misfire. all within the past week. I know Its due for a tune up but would a simple tune up fix these codes. also besides plugs and primary fluids what else should I be changing. I don't want to be getting to involved just the main stuff.
sry I don't remember. that's just what the guy said who cleared the codes. and the cel came on like ten minutes later again. I haven't checked again but im sure they r the same codes
Without knowing the codes , it will be a shot in the dark . What I suggest could be right or it could be terribly wrong . Having said that , error codes p0171 and p0174 are known for lean codes on both bank 1 and bank 2 .
1-Assuming these were the error codes , you can run a google search on these two error codes and you should find some directions on what to check. (Among them dirty MAF sensor or air-leak thru MAF sensor area , vacuum leaks thru vacuum hoses and PCV system ,low fuel delivery -restricted fuel filter or weak fuel pump )
2-Or ,better yet , take your vehicle to an automotive part store (Autozone, Precision Auto, O'Rileys ,etc.) they read your codes for free and let us know
Get the codes and start there. PCV hoses are big for the lean codes, but can also be your oxygen sensors or MAF. If you haven't cleaned your MAF sensor do so.
For the tune up are you completing yourself?
Things to change
-PCV valve
-Spark plugs
-COP springs and boots
-Fuel filter
-Air filter
