Vacuum issues

'03 F250, V10, 4x4, Crew cab

I assume these issues are all vacuum related...

1. Towing trailer in high-load scenario (up hill, etc) - Cruise control will kick off
2. Same scenario - AC will change to defrost
3. Same scenario - AC will cut off
4. Yesterday these issues (except #1) became the new norm. Cruise still worked, but AC basically didn't work.

Assuming these are related issues, where do I start to track down a vacuum leak? Any other potential culprits?

Thanks!
Kevin

It does sound vacuum related.. I've had pretty good in finding vacuum leaks with an unlit propane torch moving it around the engine compartment.
I would put a gauge on it to get your baseline reading at an idle.. I would think that you should be around 16-18" or so if the engine is running well and no leaks..

1. Not vacuum-related. The speed control is all-electronic. Probably normal for those particular conditions. It's supposed to disengage if it cannot maintain set speed.
2. Yes, vacuum leak.
3. Probably not, but "cutting off" doesn't clearly describe what isn't working. Check the HVAC FAQs.

Small vacuum leaks usually won't be detectable with the torch or sprays unless you are actually monitoring the O2 sensors or ST trims.

Check the vac lines around the battery. Check the PVH solenoid for internal leaks. If EATC, check the solenoid o-rings.
