I am about to order a redhead gearbox but I am not sure if this bracket is needed.
Its the bracket I am touching with my finger in the picture. Its a backwards C shape that bolts on under the two bolts there.
It holds the metal brake lines that are going to the proportioning valve from the master cylinder.
Is it needed or can I just take it off?
If its needed then I will send redhead my current gear box to rebuild and send back with the backwards C bracket reinstalled.
Since I don't feel comfortable enough to take bolts off of my $266 rebuilt gear box to put it the bracket on.
Take it off, that's what Red Head will tell you. That's what they told me to do
You should have the bracket. It keeps the brake lines from breaking due to vibration.
Reinstalling it isn't a big deal. Take the two bolts out of the cover, it will stay in place. Put the bracket in place, reinstall and tighten the bolts.
