Don't buy that unless you want to do it twice. Aftermarket gaskets and seals have a high failure rate. My opinion is DO NOT BUY IT.

No, buy oem head gaskets (140 each from white bear lake ford), oem oil cooler and EGR delete of your choice. Its going to be more money, but there is a lot of after market garbage floating about for the 6.0. That is most of the problem at this point. Go oem and you will not have any trouble.

These guys have most of it covered (as in pass on it), I did read down aways and saw that the cooler was a "high flow" design. That also is bad if you ever wanted to tow, you'd be yanking that out too...

I have 2 sets of aftermarket heads sets out running in landscapers trucks. One set is the black diamond and the other is Cometic. Both owner chioces due to cost, machine work was down in house.the one with black diamond is at 75, 000 since it was done and the block was decked too.The other is a standard gasket job deck heads 40,000 and no issues so far (no studs on either truck) and I service it every 5000 miles......we shall see the out come. When the time comes I WILL do mine with OEM and studs, no question about it.

Somebody already has 40,000 miles on the Cometic head gaskets? They just came out in like February!!!

This truck runs nite and day, had 210, 000 on it when I did in March and I see the truck on a weekly basis. His dump I plan on using Fel Pro. And I've gauged all these trucks up and schooled the drivers.

Im gna run the oem oil cooler. More i read i hope i just have egr cooler blown. Im getting a delete kit and a coolant filter kit from a local diesel performance guy. Ill see how tht goes. If i need head gaskets ill probably go with somthing like felpro and arp studs. Ive used those brands on other builds. Im building a hot rod really but i want dependability when i run my edge.

If money is not the issue I'd go Ford OEM all the way, It IS proven and why do the job twice?

If the EGR cooler is gone plan on the oil cooler also.
The oil cooler is what causes the EGR cooler to fail.
Low flow of coolant through the oil cooler stresses
the EGR cooler to the failure point.

Thanks everyone. I plan to pull it in the shop tomo morn and start pulling it apart. Ima do a few other things to it too. Just curious tho is it the oul side or coolant side that gets stopped up in the oil cooler? Ima do a full flush on both oil and coolant. I always run rotella t oil and orielly brand antifreeze because it says silica free. Curious if i need to change my ways on this truck.

I guess my one question is this. If the original (OEM) gaskets and cooler failed, why go with an OEM one again? Isn't that what sucked to begin with? I know very little about these motors, but it has me wondering. Is there not an aftermarket that is better than he original design?

Most of the aftermarket options have high failure rates. Usually they show themselves within a year. At least the OEM gaskets on the oil cooler do not dissolve.
