Hello everybody. I want to thank Pikachu for his help on a previous post. I'm having problems with the truck again. 2000 F350 4x4 with 2555000 miles. Stock with exception of 6637 air filter and muffler delete. Autometer Ford factory matching Boost, pyro, trans gauges. AIH delete. While towing a 9000 lb toyhauler up a 6 mile 6% grade I was only getting 10psi in 2nd gear at 2400 rpms and 1100 EGTs. The most I would get in 3rd was 7psi and the EGTs would hit 1200. On the flats at 55 in OD I was at 5psi and 8-900 EGTs. I noticed there is some soot on the firewall and a little on the up-pipes. There are no codes coming up. Empty at WOT I get 15psi @ 1100EGTs. Where should I start? The EBPS and line haven't been cleaned as far as I know. The EBPV seems to be open. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

Reason: mileage
Dave, you kind of answered your own question with the soot comment. Drive pressure is lost with the up pipes leaking, and check all the boots on the induction system for other leaks. You need new up pipes.
Thanks guys. I assumed by reading other threads that was the problem. Yes that's a typo,255,000 miles. I forgot to mention I installed all new boots from Riffraff already. I was looking at purchasing the International bellowed up-pipes, do u guys have any recommendations? While repairing this problem is there anything else I should be looking to upgrade while I have it apart? Once again Thanks for the input
When I did my uppipes, since I had to be there anyway, I put a kit in my turbo and ebpv, just because it was relatively cheap and I would rather do it on my time-line rather than the trucks...
I was looking at a new pedestal with the EBPV delete, a new billet compressor wheel from Riffraff, MBRP 4" downpipe, EBPV delete pigtail. I'm hoping with this and the 6637 intake kit from Riffraff I've already installed that takes care of my problems. What do you guys think?
Being your stock, no tunes, leave the down pipe and put a flow thur muffler on there in stead. I was talking to John Woods once and he said even with tunes, there is know increase with the 4 inch exhaust over the stock exhaust with a flow thur muffler. He has a dyno and knows. Get on those uppipes ASAP and watch the boost come back.
I have a question based on Bonanza35 post. I don't plan on getting a chip or tuner. I want efficiency and longevity with just a little more power. I just got this truck about 5 months ago and mainly use it to tow my trailer. I was using my 90 f350 IDI up until now. Besides the up-pipes, do any of you guys have any recommendations on any other upgrades you think might be beneficial based on what I'm using the truck for? I still utilize my IDI as my daily driver.
Wellll.... That 6637 ain't it. Others will poo-poo my assertion on this, so don't take it as gospel - but the Ford AIS is a better breather... and it's a cold air intake. The AIS is Ford, so it looks stock, and CARB will feel all warm and fuzzy about this upgrade. It is more money, so do your homework before you spend. You'll lose the whistle under the hood, but it won't effect any sound out the tail pipe (if you have a note there).
Get some gauges and a scan gauge. This won't boost performance, but it will tell you if you're truck is sagging from stock spunk. If the truck were newer, I wouldn't push this... but it's not, so I do. One of the best investments I ever made for my truck was a scan tool (I have AutoEnginuity, Torque Pro, Dash Command, a few other scan gauge apps for my tablet, dual pyros, fuel pressure, and a boost gauge.) For stock power on an aging 7.3L - Torque Pro (Android), pyrometer, and fuel pressure is plenty of technology to keep an eye on things. With my monitoring, I found boost/exhaust leaks, bad Injector Control Pressure, Manifold Absolute Pressure, and Exhaust Back Pressure sensors - plus a bad Injector Pressure Regulator.
The only thing the Scan gauge didn't tell me was the grief I would get from the members because of the freaking steering wheel.
I'm sorry Tug! but such a nice truck and it is a crappy wheel! You could have something like this! and the big upside no more crap from guys like me!!!
Thanks guys ,I appreciate it. I have the Torque Pro Android on my tablet. Thanks to Pikachu I purchased the Bluetooth obd2 adaptor on Amazon and downloaded the app for a previous issue on the truck. Bad ICP and IPR probs. I've installed Boost,Pyro, Trans temp gauges on the pillar. The steering wheel is now a must as well. Thanks for the suggestions. If there are any others I'm all ears.
