I have a 1997 F350 7.3L Long bed, dual wheel, Crew cab.
The drive shaft broke: the slip joint shaft (the part in the carrier bearing)
fractured(exploded). There is no way to get the broken stub(it is fractured into several pieces) out of the spline and I need to find replacement parts.
Im with Darin, a i good drive shaft shop will be able to source one. I had mine rebuilt last fall cause the slip joint had alot of play. And the local shop fixed it right up.
BTW this happened on gravel with about 300-400# in the bed and at IDLE. My left foot slipped off the clutch...with my right foot on the brake. Now I have a front wheel drive 2x6....E3500
It must have been weak to begin with. That should have just stalled the truck.
If your local drive line guys can't help you out, hit the internet! Search for wholesalers because they can be cheaper than the dealerships. It's helped my wallet in the past. I did a quick search and came up with Blue Springs Ford Parts.
