Most if not all of the "352" blocks were cast at DIF or CCC (dearborn iron foundry, cleveland casting center). The reverse "105" blocks were cast at the new at the time MCC (michigan casting center). The only FE blocks that were not cast at MCC were the 427 and 428. Those stayed at DIF. Some 428's at CCC later on.
Well I guess you can call it a 501 block too. They are normally called reverse 105 blocks. It's just a foundry marking among others found on blocks. The casting numbers on those are sometimes on inside of the lifter valley. Example D4TE etc...... It can be either a FE or FT block depending on the original engine application. The FT used a larger/thicker distributor shaft. But there was a bushing Ford made to use a std size FE distributor in those blocks. Not too big a deal if you can locate one. Ford still sold those bushings until a few years ago. Other than that they FE/FT blocks are pretty much the same.
