Wondering if anyone has this on there rigs.
I've installed Jimmi Jammers on all doors and tailgate plus the new Masterlock. Also ran parallel 1/8 in. airplane cable from tailgate to body and taped it up to look like wiring.
We talk about lowlifes doing a smash and grab this looks like it would be a good deterrent. I looked at LLumar and 3m makes one also.
Price quote for the 4 side window and rear slider, $ 395. That's with 2mil. tint and 6mil. security film.
If I lived in a high crime rate area I would consider it.Honestly I dont leave anything of high value inside my truck. So if they break in theres really nothing there to take.Plus garaged at night. How much longer does it take a thief to get through this film?90 seconds or so? Prolly a good deterrent I would think.Doesnt seem like a bad price.
We've used 3M film before, S150 (SCLARL 150). It's a really high quality protect but quite difficult to work with. After some trial and error we installed it properly and were pretty happy with it. No color or visual distortions and will prevent the window from shattering. If you install a thick enough film it'll even stop light hand gun rounds!
It sounds like it might turn out ok. The only down side might be the added resistance to the window openers due to the thicker window. Something to research. If you have one, you may want to also cover the sunroof. Let us know how it works out.
There are different thicknesses for the security film, some of which are designed so that you can still open/close your windows without an issue.
@SGT93 if somebody really wants to break in they'll find a way but it won't be through the window You can hammer it until your arm's fall off and the film will still hold everything together.
Pretty impressive. Of course, an accident with entrapment situation would be scary for emergency responders. There are the jaws-of-life, but it would take more time to get through.
Thanks for all the replies. The rep. was full of info. brought up all the cons that everyone here has. I think there's a better chance of someone trying to break into the truck than all the other cons. mentioned. I don't live in a high crime area, in Vegas really, but I'm not always sitting at home either. My biggest concern is when I'm out in the hills and there sits a shiny new F-350. Visible or not there should be something in this 60k truck worth breaking into it. I plan on tinting these colored windows this will just double the cost.
Just like another insurance rider.

Making the truck harder to break in usually makes them move on; they want easy. Right after I bought my 2011, a douche bag punched out the Mikey Mouse lock on the truck. Nothing was visible and nothing was available but close to a $1000 damage was the end result. And my truck wasn't in a high crime rate area either.
Put the Jimmi Jammers sticker on the window too. They'll pick an easier target. Like a Chevy.
