Just bought 1990 Bronco. Rear window does not work. Cannot hear any noise when trying to lower window. Sure someone has run into this in the past. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
pull the left tail light out, there is a connection in there for the back window. Pull it apart and then using a 12 volt source of somekind and jump the prongs on the tailgate side of the connector. If the window moves then its not in the tailgate. After that there should be a relay on the driverside under the dash somewhere. I had a similar problem with my 78, but I didnt bother messing with it, I put in a second switch and rewired the window. Works just fine if i had a decent tailgate that would let the window move better.
Before you tear everything apart, have someone push veryhard on the left side of the tailgate while you turn the key switch, it may be out of adjustment.
I tried that first hopeful it was the safety switch. Also, to pull the left rear turn signal, is it just the two screws visible and then it snaps out??
No, there are two screws in the light that can only be acsessed with the tailgate down. TDvjensen must have been thinking of a earlier version. You can do the same thing through the acsess panel on the tailgate. There is a plug from the motor just inside on the bottom. Un plug it and hook 12v to it. (reverse if its going up) If it still doesnt work, you can un bolt it from the window and lower it by hand. Once it's open you can start trouble shooting. Alot of times, its the wires break at the base of the gate where it goes in to the truck.
OK, put power to the wires and the window works great both directions. Checked at the fuse box and do not have power to the fuses that operate the window. Any ideas??
