ok so every morning my truck will lope back and forth for about 45 sec and then have ruff idle with little power untill the motor starts to warm up then it will purr like a kitten and have all the power in the world. what do you guys think it could be?
Oil clean and full? No fuel leaks around the filter housing? Sometimes the fitting cracks on the return from the fuel bowl and lets air in after a long soak. Get some more info and I'm sure the quy's here can get it figured out. David7.3
You may Not see a fuel leak on the fuel bowl. its the line on the drivers side, about midway up the housing. put a wrench on it and see if its loose, dont tighten it try to loosen it. they are fragile and the fitting will, crack. if its loose than tighten it slowly carefully and just snug, you may need to replace the o-rings, powerstroke o-rings got them all. Its not a glow plug problem right! long crank time and hard to start sounds like air getting in the system.
Im betting its the injectors themselves.
This is one of the ways they can act to show symptoms of plunger/barrel seal wear. As the metal heats up... it expands the couple tenths needed to maintain the seal. I liken it to the worn sticks needing their coffee to get started in the morning...
If you have not already... switching to synthetic can help.
Rotells t6 did help in my case.
