My 2012 F-150 has the back up camera, and the warning system
that beeps with increasing frequency when you're backing into something.
It's worked flawlessly, however the last few times I've started and
put it in reverse, it starts beeping constantly although there is absolutely
nothing back there.
Having been on this forum for probably 3 years, I don't recall this system
ever being discussed.
So, where is the sensor located? I looked all around the obvious places, like under the rear bumper, and don't see anything. Is it part of the camera
system?
Secondly, what could make it beep when there is nothing there? Yes, the
tailgate is up, and there is nothing in the hitch that might
trick it. I'm thinking
dirt on a senor. Anyone have any knowledge of this system?
Thanks in advance.
I just went out, and although the truck and spots looked clean, I wiped them
off with water, put it in reverse, and not a single beep.
Having had this truck thru 2 Utah winters when the truck got REALLY dirty, and
never did it, I
don't see why it would do it now. Maybe some sort of film I couldn't see.
Anyway thanks Mr. Mslayer. I owe ya a beer when we have the F-150 forum
reunion and party. Isn't Tim hosting it this year in Virginia?

I'd be happy to!! You guys bring the beer and steaks and I'll cater it for ya!
I have that system on my 2013 and it works well but it will sound the alarm while I am backing out of the garage. There isn't anything in the way but I think being close to the wall makes the alarm go off.
The alarms on my truck work well enough. The problem I have with it is it defaults to on anytime the truck is put into reverse. Makes backing a trailer annoying and having to keep turning it off is silly.
