I am confused with this problem. I have a 2000 4x4 longbed with auto. and manual locking warn hubs. When I turn hard sometimes the steering with lock up and almost jerk out of steering wheel and will not go straight, but one time I turn the 4x4 electric part on the dash and the steering wheel started shaking hard then smoothed out and the steering got smooth again, I understand that the half shafts have u joints on them. but don't understand why the 4x4 had an effect with manual hubs that are unlocked, thanks
Did the symptom with turning on 4x4 happen more than once? I don't understand a connection between the two. If it was a one time deal, maybe it was just coincidental. What made you decide to try that in the first place?
it has been happening for about a month now. I have replaced all ball joints, steering shock , and checked all other steering components. I read on this forum that some people had issues with the half shaft ujoints, so that is why I turn the 4 wheel on, but I to didn't think it would change anything but I am out of ideas. the power steering pump and gear box seem fine and I have checked to see if the box was loose in the frame.
