Opinion on truck

Well, he did help me to lighten up a little. I now read those posts with a quiet groan, not with a growl and my blood pressure shooting up. I kinda understand where he's coming from I guess but a new poster might not know what to think. If someone doesn't refute a bad post, it seems like we all agree.

Well guess whether I want to or not tomorrow I am going to have to tear into this. Hauled the hay wagon to unload 240 bails of hay and it failed to start until it cooled off about 2 hours. Then it still cranked a bit but fired. Ran it about 3 4 miles to charge the batteries back up put it in the garage to tear it down in the morning. Wish me luck. Hope all it is is the stand pipes or dummy plugs. Running out of money between paying cash for the truck and buying hay and everything else today. lol

Yea I bought the parts yesterday and kinda figured I would have to do them this weekend. Either way I knew they needed to be done. I will let you all know how they go.

Did the drivers side, no fix. Passenger side I did not have a swivel socket to get to the bolts on the valve cover next to the heater box. Have to buy a set of sockets and try again. Still question if this is the actual trouble. I have a feeling it may be a injector o ring or something else. Time will tell. Right now I am missing my old reliable 7.3. Hopefully all works out in the end. Still love the truck when it's running though. Definitely has some get up and go.

Ideal is a 12mm ratcheting flex-head.

Ok I will try that when i get a chance it's all back together for the moment. The only thing I dont like at the moment is I was messing around revving it up to make sure all the air is purged and it just shut down. Now won't start, but it is still warm. Guess see if it restarts cold before I decide if I created a new problem. Still don't necessarily regret buying it just have to get the immediate quirks worked out and hopefully it will be a reliable truck that I can give to my boy in a few years.

Too make it a little easier you can remove the inner fender well. Then you can remove those bolts from the wheel well.
You may also want to remove the oil rails and check the nipples too see if any are loose. The passenger side is a little more difficult due to the heater box.
You are correct the stand pipes come with new Ford head gaskets, but not the dummy plugs. What did the stand pipe that you took out of the driver side look like?
