So my fan speed stays pretty low even when I get on it when warmed up. It does ramp up after fully warmed up and accelerating to 45mph then starts going down one past 45 and also goes up when parked. Basically stays about 1300 rpm below engine rpm at highway speed when warmed and parked is within 300 or so rpm of engine rpm when warming up. I guess thats how its supposed to work.
Having the same issue. Cruising down the highway on my way to work in the morning at around 75 degrees EOT and ECT are in the 190s range. However coming home from work in the afternoon at 95 degrees the oil temp sometimes gets up to 205+ and up to 212 plus while idling. I do have the A/C on as well
Im never in traffic too long myself but when I'm stopped or idling my temps drop instead of going up. My fan seems to be working correctly (I guess) like bismic said wish I had a good way to check flow and pump without digging in but like others this may be the normal for my truck---I just want to know for sure.
I have decided my system is fine. Today outside temp was 85 and ect stayed in the 192 to 196 range. Not going to sweat it. I am in the planning for doing some things--BD water pump, egr delete, dummy plugs/stand pipes, stc, new oil cooler (since ill have access) nothing wrong with the truck just stuff to have fun with.
Just a heads up, there have been quite a few guys on here change their OC just because they were in the area. Afterward, their temp spreads seem to be further apart then before. If your spread is good, I'd leave it alone.
Mine runs 190-192 CT and 199-203 OT @ 70-75 mph regardless of OAT, did 200 miles the other day OAT was 90-95 the whole trip. If you haven't changed the thermostat, might be a good time.

Good point but with egr delete the spread wont matter as much will it?
