Coolant temp question.

Driving the last couple of days Ive noticed my coolant temp will get up to around 202-206 and stay there for a few miles and then drop down to about 198 and slowly goto 195 and my oil delta stays 7-9 at most. Now driving conditions may have something to do with this as they just raised our speed limit to 75 plus its been around 80-85 degrees outside. This is on my daily commute of about 30 miles with a few hills but nothing terribly steep and a few curves. I know alot say 190 degrees + a degree or so is ideal but with mine getting that high and then not quickly dropping should I look for another thermostat. Truck is running awesome and it will eventually drop down to about 192 and oil temp will come in about 198 at its lowest temp. Maybe Im reading into it for nothing and I know the normal condition is 65mph on relatively flat surface so I know Im not driving in that condition. Should I be alarmed our keep driving the $%@^ out of it. Thanks.

EGR connector plugged in?

I find my coolant temps unloaded run a little cooler on the highway versus stuck in traffic.

Better check for codes. I agree, check if EGR is plugged in, but also, is it sending codes because it's stuck open or closed. I don't think you fan is operating correctly. It should be running the fan on low or medium at those temps and bring temps down faster if I am understanding the conditions correctly. The only time you see fan on high is over 210, but under that it should still be trying to hold temp down to between 190 and 200. Someone like mchan could chime in here on the logistics of fan var and testing you could do ie scan gauge or dashboss. Could be something simple like the pigtail to the fan clutch would be nice? Belt and idler ok? Just some ideas as I am no expert. But I watch my temps like a hawk on the outlook and know when mine sets fan on low, medium and high and am used to listening for the right noises.

No codes and egr valve is plugged in. I will say it will get its highest at 206 but it doesn't stay at that temp but maybe 10 seconds or so then drop to about 200-202 for 3-5 mins then come down to around 198 for a minute or so then 195 but sometimes will come down to 190-193 at the lowest. Had it out last night and was 188-193 but did hit 200 with my foot in it climbing a slightly elevated but long hill. Maybe this is just it going thru the cycle for the conditions: 75+/- mph in mid 80s temps on hilly/curvy roads. I have noticed those temps in the past but since Ive only had it back on the road about 3 weeks you tend to watch stuff with paranoia. I could run live data with AE when I got to work tomorrow evening and post results if needed.
