Congratulations Mark! - excellent blog. You have been on this forum for as long as I can remember. Many folks in the 7.3L forum have relied on your expertise with the 4R100 Transmission when they run into problems. You have helped countless FTE members and educated even more. Bottom line - when Mark posts - people listen.
BTW, nice job on the M1A1! I got to drive one once and it was amazing.........
Congratulations Mark. Your excellence in engineering touches many things I operate on a near daily basis. The M1A1 Abrahms tanks and the multiple Ford products we own with transmissions you've has something to do (or more) with the engineering. I smile every time my 5R110 up shifts behind my modded 6.0. Thanks for all you've done. It's a pleasure to see the site is tapping into your knowledge base on a more formal basis.
WOW!! I've always appreciated all your contributions on the forums I have read. You sir are a valuable asset to the Ford community. It will be really neat to read your blogs as well. Knock on wood I haven't had the need to do transmission repairs, but I am sure that when the day comes, somewhere will be a thread with your comments in it that will point me in the right direction.
How can we subscribe to these blog posts? I found another he wrote about working on new trucks, but now way other than remembering to search his name to look for new articles.
Way to go, Mark! I hope you have fun with your blog. While I'm at it, thank you for your support here on the forum. Your input has helped me to make better decisions regarding my transmission.
It is always nice to put a face to a name, it is funny that you have a image in your head from corresponding with a person online, and then you see a picture and it is nothing like you thought, that said, nice glamor shot Mark! I will be checking on this blog for sure.
BTW, nice job on the M1A1! I got to drive one once and it was amazing.........
I only got to ride in one, but I was in the commander's station. It was a shakedown ride that every tank goes through at the end of the assembly line. We climbed a 60% grade! It feels like you are laying on your back. Ford doesn't make anything that is capable of climbing a 60% grade.
For comparison the steepest grade I've ever encountered on an interstate is eastbound I-70 approaching the Eisenhower Tunnel west of Denver. That's an 8% grade, and it seems pretty steep when you're climbing it.
If I had stayed with General Dynamics about two months longer I was scheduled to spend a weekend at Fort Knox. The agenda for that weekend was to learn to drive an M60 and fire the main gun. But I couldn't risk not getting the job at Roush, so I gave that up.
Wow Mark. Congratulations. I think I just might grab my girls and head up to check out the Roush plant soon. We've been to the Henry Ford museum and Greenfield Village, which I HIGHLY RECOMMEND if any of you guys are around Detroit at anytime to go check it out either one or both.
