I'm still working on the body work and painting my truck, but while waiting for parts to come in, I've been doing some other little odds and ends. One of which is figuring out where I can get the 2 little metal strip pieces that go on each side of the slider, to prevent it from sliding either way when latched. Does anyone know where I can get them? LMC doesn't show them, and I can't find them anywhere.
Mine is missing them, so the window can be slid to the left and right, even when latched:
to my knowledge you can not get parts for these. Only thing you can do is find a used one and rob parts or buy a new one. New ones aren't that pricey, unless you buy it from a glass shop. The good news is a used one might not be that hard to find. I do believe the back glass is the same through 96.
Get some 1/8" bar stock "steel" and bend a 1" 90 degree for a handle on the end and drop them in the lower track, wala "window lock rods". Make them long enough to prevent the window from sliding either direction.
You put them in upside down so the purposely left rough cut ends will grab on the track and prevent the bar from popping out. The bend make is easy to remove.
Look at the attached illustration. Is the part you're looking for basic p/n 42280?
If it is, I located five NOS pieces at various dealers.
Let me know if that's the part and I'll post the dealers. If that's not the part, which one are you looking for?

Well, I might do that until I can get the right pieces. I'm trying to get the redneck fixes OUT of my truck
Thanks though, I probably will end up using this idea til I get the parts.

Thank you for the diagram. I actually don't see it there at all, the part I'm looking for slides over the outer edge of each 42006 to prevent it from being able to slide all the way across.
It's not 42076 or 422A68 either, maybe it was just considered part of the actual sliding glass?
The outer metal part that attaches to the glass is part of the frame....better go hit the JY.... I have about 70 dent sides in my local JY , just saying.

Hmm, interesting. I wonder how the heck mine managed to disappear, 70?! I hardly ever manage to find a single one in my local yard! I'll see if Jklnhyd is able to get them off his slider since it's right in his garage, but if not and you plan on going there anytime soon, please let me know. Thanks!

I have my old slider in the garage. I can rob parts off it and send it to you if you want
Yeah, I'm missing anything that has to do with that lol. So those end caps aren't just held on by some sort of adhesive or anything?
If you wouldn't mind seeing if those pieces would come off easily, I'd be very thankful and happy to send you some money through paypal. Just let me know if you can get them off and what you want for them.
