smoking

I have an 04 f250 with the 6.0 and have about 191,000 miles. The last couple of days I have noticed alot of white smoke and at times black smoke. Also seems like lack of power off the line. Could it be bad injectors ( I have never replaced them since ive owned the truck at
50,000 miles.) No major repairs have had to be done to the truck yet. Im sure it is about to catch up with me though. I did resolder the point on the FICM, could that be the issue again?

Should go to the 6.0L forum, but do you have a scan gauge or anything to read codes?

Sounds like EGR issues, likely the cooler ruptured, does the exhaust smell like coolant?

Like Chet said, tons of great information and knowledgeable people in the 6.0L Power Stroke Diesel - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums

I thought I posted this on the 6.0 site, sorry guys. But I have been loosing coolant lately. Havent really took the time to smell it but can see it as I am driving down the road. So if it smells like coolant its probably the EGR cooler and what about the black smoke?

If the coolant pressure tank is pressurizing your probably going to need head gaskets as well. Stop driving it.

This cracks me up. I keep hearing, seeing, feeling, and smelling things on my 7.3L... and the frequent advice is crank up the radio and just drive it. A rare question from one our 6.0L cousins yields slightly different advice.

Sorry to say guys but the 6.0L is a different bird. Different system all together. If you have a leaking EGR cooler head gaskets are next if not already. Sorry Rich, we don't have the problems they do. And there problems can be solved very easy with a little or a lot of money spent. My son went thur this, bought parts and had it done under warrinty from a guy who new what he was doing. At the time in our area there was not many around who new how to solve this. I would recommend head bolt, EGR delect or upgrade, you have to check the heads very close to see if there still good, and many other little things that good guys know what to replace. Some kind of scan gauge for sure. The oil coolers need to be replaced at the same time of egr cooler for sure.
Not a 7.3 at all.

Are you leaking coolant around the cap of the pressure tank? You should be able to see white marks of dry fluid or fresh coolant around the top if it is leaking, smell as well.
