F350 Dually Fender Lights quit working
#17
Amazingly the tail lights work along with the turn signals and plate light without the ground connected.
Thanks Bill for pointing out G401. Amazingly it must only ground the fender and ICC lights as the rest all worked.
Fuse 4 does kill the fender lights but the #2 relay has nothing to do with them as the fender lights stayed on when I removed it. I guess we can't believe everything we read.
Now I understand why when I back fed the circuit nothing worked an it did not send power to the relay. I had a bad ground and the relay, contrary to what I found doing research, has nothing to do with the fender lights.

Can you post a picture of the ground location please? My truck has the same issue and I have no idea where to look. Or even email it to me gilbertpaintingstl@gmail.com thank you so much

Thanks for the info on this thread; it got my problem sorted, which was a bad relay.
I went into this with the idea that it was a short/bad ground OR something bounced loose as I had taken the truck down several old dirt roads and the lights were working before, but not after.
Here is what I did:
I disconnected the + terminal on the battery and I direct wired it to the positive terminal on one of the fender lights. I then took my test light and tested each light, both contacts to ensure they work and that there were no shorts...they were good. I got under and checked where the two harnesses attach to the main the harness; power was good there.
The guy that had the truck before me put a trailer connector at the front of the bed and crapped up the harness about midway down (my next project) so I climbed under there and power was still good. I took it all the way back to 3-4 connectors right near the fuse box and I found the one where I was getting power and traced that back to (sorry I don't know the point/contact numbers on the relays, I will post a pic if someone wants one) one point of the relay #4? Relay.
That showed there was no short or bad ground. So I reconnected the battery and checked the relay points again. With the battery connected, the other 3 points were now hot and the one to the lights was not. When I put a new relay in...viola...lights worked again.
I previously checked those relays and thought they were all good, that i why I went in reverse.
Hope this helps anyone with a similar issue.
