I have just finished working on my truck (See post Truck Died)..
After putting it all back together, (1996 PSD Dually, crew cab) so I can drive it, and get it inspected so I can really drive it, I realize that the running board lights, and tail lights are not working. The headlights are working Now, doing the work on the truck, I had pulled every fuse inside the cab, and put back. I had not noticed any being bad. I had pulled every 30 amp fuse in the engine compartment, but I am sure every one I had taken, I put back.
Are the tail lights fused seperately from the head lights? If so, do you know what fuse number?
If they are all together, do you have suggestions where to start looking. Does anyone have a wiring diagaram for the lights?
sounds like a fuse or two to me, The owners manual gives a diagram of the fuse, and I am sure one can be had online somewhere. I 'd let you know but my owners manual is 250mi away at the moment
So I could not find which fuse it was, and I couldn't see any that were obviously bad. So I turned the light switch on, and started tapping on different fuses. Suddenly the lights started to flicker. Fuse number 4 inside the cab on the 1996. I remember another reply to my earlier posting about hairline breaks in the fuses. After I tapped in, and they came on, they shut off, and the burnt fuse was more obvious. Replaced, just hoping I don't have a break in a wire some place causing it to give out. I left them on for a while last night, with no issues, but I also wasn't driving the truck, as I am still replacing the fuel heater.....
