i lost power steering today!! fluid is full, no leaks and I can take the top off the fluid resavor and see the fluid moving in there. when I done my engine job I also replaced the steering box with a red head box and also replaced the pump with a reman unit from rockauto. all this was done about 6000 miles ago. could the pump be bad already? or could it be something with the brake booster. I don't know a lot about hydro boost systems.
I did not put under vac. But I jacked the front end up and rotated stop to stop a lot. I mean a lot too. Also pressed brake several time all while checking level to make sure it didn't start sucking air. Had a helper watching fluid level. Steering and brakes have been no problem until yesterday. Now I only have power when running down road. The pump I put on was a A1 cardone reman unit. Only lasted 6000 miles. Is there a good pump to go with. Thinking about reman motorcraft. Really can't replace every oil change lol.
I may give them a call when I get a few minutes. I do love my redhead steering box. I am hoping it's just a bad reman unit and there is no other problems.
