need power steering help!!

i lost power steering today!! fluid is full, no leaks and I can take the top off the fluid resavor and see the fluid moving in there. when I done my engine job I also replaced the steering box with a red head box and also replaced the pump with a reman unit from rockauto. all this was done about 6000 miles ago. could the pump be bad already? or could it be something with the brake booster. I don't know a lot about hydro boost systems.

any ideas?
thanks in advance

How do your brakes feel? If the pump was bad youd feel it in the pedal.

Sounds like you may have a bad pump.
Likely what you seeing in the bottle is the
pump pressure relief valve venting.

When you installed it did you
place the system under a vacuum to help
remove any trapped air in the pump before starting?

I did not put under vac. But I jacked the front end up and rotated stop to stop a lot. I mean a lot too. Also pressed brake several time all while checking level to make sure it didn't start sucking air. Had a helper watching fluid level. Steering and brakes have been no problem until yesterday. Now I only have power when running down road. The pump I put on was a A1 cardone reman unit. Only lasted 6000 miles. Is there a good pump to go with. Thinking about reman motorcraft. Really can't replace every oil change lol.

I may give them a call when I get a few minutes. I do love my redhead steering box. I am hoping it's just a bad reman unit and there is no other problems.
