I pulled out of the driveway and saw that my 2001 4WD 7.3L Excursion had left me a gift in the road. It looks like it came from this location below as everything else looks fine. The one on the other side rotted off already.
What part is this, and where can I find a replacement. Its not a "bump-end" as that would go right above the axle, as opposed to the [auxilliary??] leaf.
What is this part? It is on the part of the leaf spring that hangs down. This is a view of the excursion from underneath the left passenger door, looking back
This is what the part looks like that I found in the road.
I noticed that the one you have sits on the first leaf, I have never seen one placed there. I will go out and check my service manual. Not sure that is OEM as I have never seen one mounted at that location but I also don't own an EX but I will check
What you have there sir is whats left of a TIMBREN bump stop from their overload spring set up. By the look of it it is there old style. They say they have lifetime warranty, but whos lifetime is the $1,000,000 question.
Thank you SARDiverDan. That appears to be the one I am looking for. Just placed my order with FordPartsGiant.com. Odd that I could not find it on fordparts.com.
