Hi everyone.
After a few days of rain and a dealer wash, my 6.7l threw a water in fuel light. No biggie, when I crawled under, the wires that go to the separator were hanging off. I plugged them back into the connection and drained the separator, got about 2 tablespoons of water in about 3/4 of a litre. WIF light won't go off. Any ideas?
Thanks, Alistair
Ok! All sorted I think/hope. Removed the separator body and filter, found that on the bottom of the housing where the connector goes in are 3 little plastic clips around a octagon shaped "female" connector. One of the clips have broken off and that's what caused the male side connector to pop off. Water/mud had gotten in there causing a bad connection and setting of my WIF light. Took brake clean, washed it out and dried it up and no more light! Cleaned out the filter housing when I was under there and couldn't find any more water so that's good news! I still can't believe ford hasn't made these housing out if steel! Flimsy plastic on one of the lowest points on a $70,000 truck? Makes no sense to me! Will be fabricating a skid plate for it in the future. What do you think are my odds on getting warranty on the housing? Anyone else had this issue?
