Ref. our 75 F-150
I did it again……I bought a used delay wiper control on ebay last year.
The seller stated it fit a 75 F-series. I have not taken the dash apart
yet. Is this a common swap?
Very common and easy, it's plug n' play.
But, to make it work you need both the windshield wiper governor (aka delay box) and the delay wiper switch.
When you install, be sure that the switch is well grounded. If it isn't, the delay function won't work. Original switches ground through the metal dash, replacement switches have a short ground wire pigtail because they also fit later model trucks that have plastic dashes.
In the standard windshield wipers, the wiring harness plugs into the back of the dash mounted switch. With delay wipers, the wiring harness first plugs into the governor control box, then that plugs into the switch.
This is the delay box. Everyone calls it that but Ford calls it a windshield wiper governor control.
