carb adjustments

OK, I have a 68 Ford shortbed on a 73 3/4 ton frame dana 60's front and rear running a 302. runs real good but i can always smell fuel and when starting fuel comes out the exhaust. It has a 2bbl motorcraft that i just rebuilt. How many turns on the 2 air fuel needles? Any other ideas?

What size is the carb? There are instructions and a conversion chart at the top of this forum.

It sounds like it either has a cracked bowl allowing fuel to run into the intake or a bad powervalve. It could also be boiling fuel out of the bowl after shut down when hot.
An average is 2 1/2 turns, but all engines are different and require a little tuning to get the highest idle vacuum.
