I have a 2000 7.3 powerstroke turbo charged f350
why is it when I have parked next toother powerstrokes I'm the loudest guy on the block?
I have been next to other powerstrokes that are quiter than my v10.
Is there something I can do to quiet down the powerstroke?
DLjacobs, I too have a 2000 PSD, and found it to be quite loud, I went into my local dealer, and had them pull all the factory notices on my motor. There is a factory recall on a couple of injectors on our motor. They will replace them for the typical $100 factory deal. Be warned though....if you have them replaced you will get a quiter motor, but will loose a little power.
The reason for the power loss is, that they replace your exsisting injectors with smaller ones.
When these trucks are sucking in air they run alot louder. By saying "sucking in air" I mean that your fuel gets air bubbbles in it and that is very bad. The Long lead injector replacement is a hokie fix that does not work well. You have to remove the entrained air through a series of easy fixes. Ford will not do it under warranty. It is to much for me to explain. Go to www.texastowncar.com to get educated on the subject.
I'd be willing to bet that your fuel economy is noticably below your friends' similiarly equipped trucks as well.
good Luck.
Your link directed me to a login or register page. I declined either.
That's a shame. It's a very useful site. Nothing there for the 96, but it's good info for the new one.
HMREV800,
No,No,NO, Don't tell people to go to their dealer. That TSB puts a longlead injector in the #8 hole. That's something that NOBODY needs. It's Ford's failed attempt at a cackle fix, and usually makes it idle knock. Bad ju-ju.
I want to make mine a bit louder so I can wake everyone up. I hate those little ricers that sound really bad when there loud. The sound of power is always cool. + I want to hear the turbo more if I could.
