my old trucks engine blew and I got pissed/stupid.
sold it cheap.
been beating the bushes till today for another.
I found this 85 (again) f 250 4x4,300-6, 4 speed (I haven't taken time to notice which one).
most amazingly the dashpad is perfect !
im getting a better bed tomorrow from the previous owner, he wants the lift gate which I have to use for.
I also need tires dry rot wheel rusted been sitting in the woods since 2006.
anyone got ideas for exterior color?
Brown is a great color. Especially when paired with tan in a tu-tone configuration......
Is that a semi-floater rear axle?
Idk like I said I just got it today really hadn't had time to look at it too hard.the owner said it was a heavy three quarter ton confirmed by the DMV. He also said it was a full float rear axle....
I guess we'll see tomorrow when we pull that bed off.
It's very easy to see if it's a full floating axle, just look at the center of the rim at the back. Looking at the picture, it looks like a semi-float to me also. There is no large hub sticking out of the center.
The VIN may reflect that it's supposed to be a full-floating rear axle, but these trucks have 9 lives and during some them things are swapped.
Try to keep the engine intact and give the computer system a chance, hopefully you will be ok. If you can't, then yes you might need to do the swap.
What does this diaphragm do? Does it have a lever that comes out of it and goes to some of the choke linkage? If so, that's your choke pull-off. There is usually a small vacuum connection very near it coming out of the carb, but if you can't find it, full time manifold vacuum is all it needs.
The choke is set to when the engine is cold and you stomp the pedal once, the choke door completely shuts. The engine starts, but the choke being completely shut will not let the engine run for very long without flooding out, so that's what the choke pull-off diaphragm does. As the engine starts and builds vacuum the choke pull-off lever retracts and it cracks the choke door open just a little bit so the engine will not stall out. There is a spec on this, usually the lever is bent with pliers to adjust it. If you crack the choke open too much the engine may stall also(too much air).
franklin thanks gain...brain cells dusty in this area.
d44 ?
also prior to my taking possession somebody stole the guts from the converter...
hey franklin
at the base of the carb there is a vacuum diaphragm facing forward but no hose connected to it. do you have a diagram ?
ty
Looks like a D60/61. D44 was used under some 1/2 tons for the rear, back in the 70's, but I don't think it was ever offered as an 8 lug rear axle. And, that ain't no D44 cover.
As for the convertor, don't need no stinkin' convertor.........
ill look deeper into the diaphragm franklin, ty for the info.
D60/61 huh ok thank you ! fordfe
and I agree but for inspection here in pa if it came with it has to have it.
visual insp only.
no sniffer testing tho...
