I lost one of the spring clips that retain the tranny shift linkage rods in the column shift levers and cannot find any source for the little buggers on this forum or any other. '66 F100. Help!!!
Have you tried your local Ford dealer? Most dealers still have some on the shelf, as they came in boxes of 25, and once the package was opened, you can't return it to Ford. They'll gladly sell you a few.
An old temporary fix was to install a washer and push a galvanized nail throught the hole and bend the ends up opposite of each other so it will not fall out. Works pretty good as I never replaced mine in my old Gmc pickup for 4 years.
I found the answer to my problem when I had to remove the adjustment blocks at the bottom of the shift rods (tranny end) to increase the rod length. Someone had replaced the spring type retainers with "C" clips, the type of clips one would normally use for brake shoe adjuster retainers. I installed a new "C" clip and I was in business.
