98 Ford Ranger with idle issues, multiple codes
Turns out that's not the issue, and the IAC is clean as a whistle. My dad's taken a look and can't find any vacuum leaks, so I'm at a loss. He thinks there may be an electrical issue, which isn't his forte (he's usually working on emergency vehicles, fire engines and whatnot) so I could use some insight. The codes it's showing are:
po171
po304
Po320
p1502
p1506
He's also checked the DPFE sensor (wtf is that anyways?!?) and it's reading between .8 and 1.2V.
If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be ever so grateful. So would DMV, as I can't register it until I sort out the problem. Thanks in advance for your insight.
P0320 = Ignition Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction
"The ignition engine speed sensor input signal to PCM is continuously monitored. The test fails when the signal indicates that two successive erratic profile ignition pickup (PIP) pulses have occurred."
Note: The PIP signal is generated by the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.
Possible causes:
- Loose wires/connectors in PIP circuit,
- Arcing or misconfigured secondary ignition components (coil, wires and plugs - see below),
- On board transmitter (2-way radio),
- Failing crankshaft position sensor
Double check the plug wire configuration. If it's a 3.0L or 4.0L, see Coil Pack Spark Plug Wire Diagram and Cylinder Identification
