Hey all, I'm new to this forum but could really use your help. A few months ago I bought this nice looking 98 Ranger XLT, but my dad (the mechanic) was laid up from back surgery and couldn't come with me. The truck clearly had idle issues, but the seller assured me it only needed a new idle air control valve.
Turns out that's not the issue, and the IAC is clean as a whistle. My dad's taken a look and can't find any vacuum leaks, so I'm at a loss. He thinks there may be an electrical issue, which isn't his forte (he's usually working on emergency vehicles, fire engines and whatnot) so I could use some insight. The codes it's showing are:

p1506
He's also checked the DPFE sensor (wtf is that anyways?!?) and it's reading between .8 and 1.2V.
If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be ever so grateful. So would DMV, as I can't register it until I sort out the problem. Thanks in advance for your insight.

Note: The PIP signal is generated by the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor.
Possible causes:
- Loose wires/connectors in PIP circuit,
- Arcing or misconfigured secondary ignition components (coil, wires and plugs - see below),
- On board transmitter (2-way radio),
- Failing crankshaft position sensor
