Getting ready for upgrades

Well i figure its about time to upgrade the injectors and hpop. I know the t500 is the way to go on the hpop but what injectors should i run? I will be running stock turbo at least for quite awhile. I do some heavy towing at times 18k+ but also want it to be fun to drive empty. Right now i have the 6637, ts chip, and a 3" dp, had 4" exhaust but it fell off so more than likely i will replace whole system with diamond eye as well.

Should i also look into an intercooler? Any other suggestions are appreciated

I am in the same process, my t500 is on. wow that woke up this tired old girl.
I have had for years the 6637 intake and the 3 inch down pipe.
CAC is installed pipes are made, E99 spider ready to go in, I just need the v band clamp for the turbo outlet
I have a set of injectors from Rosewood, with Jim's advice I went with stage 1's premium build. they are still sitting on the bench as I haven't had time to install them.
send Jim a PM, injectors are his life.
as for the cooler Ford figured it out in '99 and still runs them!

I can't wait to get mine finished, I will be getting hay in mid July (see pic below) that load is 32,000 lbs

Heavy towing like that I'd for sure recommend an intercooler. You can DIY for a lot less than buying a kit. I would recommend a set of Jim's stage one's also. They work real well for towing. You'll also want to get some custom tunes on that chip to wake it up if you put in the stage ones.

Ive kinda been putting a list together as i plan on buying one thing at a time and then install it all at once. My list so far is:

Diamond eye 5" exhaust
T500 hpop
Efuel...i was thinking about the strictly/driven diesel kit
Injectors
Bigger/better trans cooler...any recommendations?
Custom tunes.....recommendartions?
Turbo upgrade with intercooler

Which turbo should i step up to? And if i step up turbos should i go to stage 2 injectors?

This build will take me awhile and obviously a lot of money so i want to make sure i get all the right stuff the first time. If there is anything else im missing or should look into please let me know.

Which turbo kind of depends on what you are putting in for injectors. What is the main use for the truck? I run a S366 on stage ones and Glenn runs one on stage two's. Any bigger injector and you need to wastegate the 366 or go bigger on the turbo. I'm no turbo expert though, and there are other options too. I love my S366/stage one combo and wouldn't change it for anything.

The bigger the injector, more than likely the shorter life for your trans unless you keep your foot out of it. A good trans to hold big power is 5000+. I've got about 2500 into mine with the converter, and its far from bulletproof. A good cooler is a trucool4739. That's a good efuel kit also.

Lots of good custom tuners. PHP, gearhead, DP, tony wildman, etc. With those mods you're pretty much gonna need head studs, new valve springs, and new pushrods too.

Id say the main use would be to drive around when im home, not a daily driver, but a fun toy. However i do some heavy towing occassionally. Ive read a lot of your posts and it seems like you have a pretty good setup

I haven't dynoed it but someone on here that had a setup just like mine except a different custom tuner had 387hp and 757tq at the rear wheels. If you figure that at the flywheel its about exactly double the stock numbers.

I run a 6.0 intercooler. My mileage empty I really have no idea. I haven't driven it much empty. Towing my 48' trailer mileage has gone down with upgrades, but my foot stays in the throttle a lot more than it used to as I can control egt's a lot better with this turbo. It varies from as low as 7 on a real windy day to 11 on a great day. 9 is a pretty good average for what it makes towing 16k+. This truck used to be a SRW with 3.55's, now a dually with 4.10's. It made 17@ 75 in stock form, I'd guess now it would be a few less than that if I drove it much empty.

"20 at 80" was going to be my license plate! Long story, but at 70 (just at 2000rpm) it would get a steady 17, my sister dialed it up to 80 on her turn driving, (I looked at the scan gauge and there was about 3psi of boost) and I let her run a full tank. 19.8mpg. We ran two more tanks (hand calc based on the gallons we put in each time) and it stayed 19.8 to 20.

Bone stock, 3:55 gears, skinny tires, topper on the bed, cruise control as much as possible.
