Coarse or Fine Thread Studs?

I need to replace my front passenger wheel hub assembly on an '04 6.0 4x4 Excursion. Looking through the various options I've seen both fine thread and coarse thread studs. I don't want to order the wrong part, and if I just guess I most certainly will. How do I figure out which type of thread to go with?

My 04 ex is course thread. Should be able to tell just by looking at them.

my 04 truck was fine thread. The difference was $150 from course to fine. Just pull a lug nut to verify.

If you order on line from Advanced auto, then pick them up... use TRT30 in the coupon code and get $50 off the price. If that doesn't work, Google coupon codes and use one of them.

Don't forget to check the pins on the caliper bracket. Mine were froze. They sell them there as well, but the bracket, pins and boots are all sold separate.

I used Federal Mogal

for 100% reassurance measure them ridge to ridge
1.5 mm = fine
2.0 mm = course

I measured two threads for easier reading
3.0 mm = fine
4.0 mm = course

My early 04 p/u was fine thread

If all else fails and you get the wrong one just knock out the studs and swap them out with your old ones.

Turns out mine was fine thread. I jacked up the front end and then cut the wheel so I could easily get to the back side of the hub assembly. You can pretty easily see the last 1/3" of the retaining studs in questions. They were clearly fine threads and not coarse, just by looking at them. Thanks for all the replies.
