New timkens. Stud thread question.

Got some new timken wheel hub assemblies. I didn't realize until I got the new hub all greased and placed on the truck that I ordered course thread as my truck is an 04. BUT it looks like my truck has fine thread studs. For some reason I read the change over order wrong. I thought they went from fine to course when in reality they went from course to fine.

So..... advice? Keep going and get new corse thread wheel nuts for the front of the truck? just have course on front and fine on back.

Not sure if there is any issue with course threads for me as I will only be running this truck as a family hauler with max (someday) 35's on it. Right now still stock wheels and tires.

thoughts?

thanks

~10 months of driving on a mix of coarse and fine threaded front/rear hubs I and haven't felt any ill effects. I just have to remember not to mix up the lug nuts.

Since they are already installed, I would get the matching nuts and carry on!
My '05's rear axle is from an '01 so it has the course threads and the front axle is still the original fine thread, been mis-matched for the past 7 or so years now, no issues at all.

If it bothers you, the studs are easily replaced. On or off of the vehicle.

My Timken Hub says the thread pattern is 'M14x1.5'. My Truck is on jack stands and I cannot find the nuts anywhere. Depot, Lowes, Ace, Advance, Zone...
Help!

What rims do you have or rather what do your current lugs look like? Would be easier to assist. Thinking about it...isn't x1.5 fine thread? the ones for a 2001 one are M14-2.0, have you tried your originals?

agsmv1.... I mean the 4 studs that go thru the knuckle. The new studs are fine thread. The old studs were course thread on the back side so I can't use the old nuts. Not that I would want to anyway but I cannot find these nuts anywhere. I'd rather not pay FOMOCO $60plus for 8 nuts. Timken is lame for including the studs but not the nuts..just lame

Hmmm, my 4 studs that go through the knuckle are fine thread and I used the original nuts on the back that were on the truck. Your 4 studs are course thread?

My issue was I ordered the hub with the course thread wheel studs instead of one thread. I have stock wheels so I ended up just getting flange nuts for a 2002 (which came with course thread wheel studs).

My original studs were course thread. My Timken replacement has fine thread. I read that Ford changed to the fine thread at some point. Thats why I cannot re use the nuts because they are course. My problem now is that I cannot locate the nuts I need. Ford has them at almost $8 a piece and I need 8. 4 for each side.

Sorry to hijack the thread

No worries on the hijack.

Are they course on both sides? I thought all the hub chassis/threads were same.

Assuming you already tried using old studs?

the older studs are course on the back side. Not sure about into the hub side. I'm not gonna entertain trying to use the old ones....Newer thread sizes are the M14-1.5... I'm gonna have to wait until monday morning to do anything now. Grainger or there is another Nut n Bolt specialty store. I could go to Ford but damn 8$ a pop for each and I need 8. Still Cursing Timken for not giving a warning or an option to buy them,,,,You get your part and F you! Thanks . Timken

@BlackTruckDave does Dana sell the nuts as they are a Dana axle, you could also check a local wrecking yard if you have some.

Grainger doesn't have them and neither does Asheville nut n screw.
Timken dropped the ball and I still have not even heard back from them.
Gonna have to drop $70 bucks at the stealership for nuts that don't even say Ford on them. Great savings Timken. Buyer beware

I'm not looking for LUG NUTS for the wheel. Of course I could find them anywhere.
I am looking for solid Flange Nuts that bolt the Timken Hub to the Knuckle.
