Very hard to find any frame manufacturer that Lippert does not own. They buy so many companies it is hard to keep up.
Steve
Steve - there is a new Cougar 5er parked next to ours at the CG and it has a BAL frame (NORCO Industries Welcome to Norco Industries, Inc.) which surprised me as I didn't know that they had gotten into building at that level. No idea of the quality yet - kinda hard to crawl under to do a visual with the owner standing there - but in talking to him, that was one of his reasons to buy after having a Lippert crack some pigeon dropping welds.
I didn't know Lippert owned HappiJac until I had to call tech support for a question on a bedroom slide-out in a fifth wheel. I just can't keep up with the buyouts in the industry. Seems like no one really wants to own anything for long any more. Just start the company and hope for a buy-out.
Dog gonnit, hate to see this happen. I had it happen twice in one day 2 years ago. Tore up the underbelly, and ripped off, fender wells and bent the back axle as the rubber wrapped.
Insurance put on new axles, and fixed everything else. On the underbelly, the repair shop actually used Gorilla Tape, this was 2 years ago and it still is completely sealed.
I was going to go with LT's but I do not have the room to move up to 16's even the smallest load range E as I only have about 1.5 inches between tires now, bummer. So I pack 2 spares at all times now and drive no faster than 65. Thats fast enough anyway, but it sure is hard to drive that slow with the 6.7...sheeeesh...

Do you have a underbelly that is like a black cloth mesh or the one that is like a black plastic cardboard?
I am always on the look out for stuff I haven't tried that will work. I ordered some specialty tape that was supposed to be the perfect thing a couple of years back, but it just peeled right back off.

I have both.
main part is the black cardboard and the outside portions are the wrap.
When I pulled the coroplast down last year for a SeeLevel tank monitor system, I finished off a seam with Gorilla Tape. So far only one end has frayed about 2-3 inches after a couple of pretty long (1500 mile) trips and a nasty winter in hibernation on my driveway.
Keeping up with ownership of companys is a full time job with entrepreneurs and equity consolidation firms. Tools, a favorite subject of mine - Stanley owns Black & Decker, DeWalt, Porter-Cable, MAC and a host of others - and of course, the quality IMO, is pretty iffy nowadays.
Gearitis - Are you sure about the tire sizes? Tire Rack posts the specs on all tires they sell and I was able to find 'E' replacements in LT that were actually a tiny bit smaller (.10") in diameter then the 'ST' GY Marathons junkers - General Grabbers (Mexican manufacture) that I'm using as well as some BFG's that I really wanted but were then out of stock
