Tire Wear ?

Can anyone estimate here? 50%?

285/75/18

about 9 months old, owner did a ton of highway milage, approx 12,000

it's kinda to judge tread depth without knowing what you started with. What kind of tires are they? Most tire companies list the tire specs on their websites. If I had to guess though I'd say that they are probably around 40-50%.
