Please help asap!!!!!!! Differential problem
Hi all, I need some help. I have a 98 E350 club wagon xlt with the v-10 and I have some differential issues I need help with. My van was making a clunking noise when switching from reverse to drive and from park to reverse etc..etc. Assumed it was u-joints so went ahead and replaced them and while I was under van, I moved rear tires and saw the pinion gear moving in and out and just had a lot of "slop" in it. Friend told me I could just tighten the nut on the pinion gear but, not sure if he is right or if I need to put new pinion bearings in. Does not howl or grind but I have a long trip coming up and don't want it "blowing up" on me. Any help or advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
