Blower location

Ref. 75 F-150 w/factory a.c. : Where is the blower motor hidden?
The shop manual instructions combine the heater core and the blower motor
replacement in the same section. I hunch that it is necessary to drain
the cooling system and remove the heater core to gain access to the
blower motor.

I am surprised that no one has replaced the blower motor on an a.c. equipped Ford F-150.

The blower is hidden in the evaporator housing thats in the engine compartment.
It's a PITA to get to.
To change it you need to remove the A/C evaporator and the heater core. While you're there change the heater core. They're cheap and it'll save a lot of frustration.
Also, you'll need to reuse the squirrel cage blower wheel, be careful, don't damage it. They're no longer available and the last time I looked no one had any.

You mean to say that I must not only drain the cooling system to remove the heater core,
but also take the a.c. system apart? Our Stella is not worth all of that.
The blower squeals a tad with the a.c. on. It's quiet all other times. (knock on wood)
Where's that FOR SALE sign?

You don't have to open the a/c system to get the blower motor out. You can pull the evaporator core out enough to remove the blower, but it is a real PITA. I did the blower on my '79 a few years ago. It takes a bit of patience and most of an afternoon, but it is possible.

Easier to remove the complete box....after removing the a/c evaporator and the heater core you can access the blower motor.

No you should not, but you can, take the front metal cover in the engine compartment. If you do you will have a troublesome time removing the motor because it is not suppose to come out that way.

Also might as well replace the heater core, since you are there. You can do it with out disconnecting the a/c you just swing the evaporator out of the way, but that is with leaving the box installed.

A long T handled allen wrench and carefully remove the allen screw holding the blower cage from the motor shaft.

I ALWAYS ASSUMED THAT FORD HAD A BETTER IDEA.
I owned a 62 Lincoln for 2 years around 1970. 2 heaters located in the cowl Remove the
front wheels and the back of the inner fender. 2 water valves too. Our 66 T-Bird is
no picnic either. It went to the Thunderbird Ranch for removal of the dash and replacement of all the cut vacuum lines, test the heater core and the evaporator core.
Where's that 4-SALE sign?

Factory installed integral A/C is combined with the heater. The A/C controls are located in the same panel as the heater controls.

Integral A/C evaporator case (19A559) located in engine compartment.

19805 = A/C heater blower motor.

Removing this blower motor is a snap compared to a 1964/66 T-Bird that the entire dash has to be pulled to get at the heater core.

I once owned a '66 Thunderbird Town Landau with A/C. A week after buying it in 1975 (it was traded in on a new Granada), the heater core began leaking.

Left: 1973/75 F100/350 integral A/C / Right: Nightmare!

John its not that bad if you pull the complete box, its quite easy. Also here is some heater core info for you.

Thanks to ranger 429 for doing the hard work for us. "For anyone looking for a brass/copper core advanced auto part number 398304 is the correct one. It is also the same core that fits early, 68'ish mustangs. Laurel mountain mustang is where I bought mine from. Part number just in case it is needed in the future:For A/C 18476-1A For non A/C 18476-2
1973-79 BRONCO HEATER CORE - WITHOUT A/C - BRASS | Laurel Mountain Mustang
Also NAPA but makes sure and ask are they aluminium or copper? Copper is what you want.
Heater core, high output heater C6OZ-18476-B
Antique Auto Supply, Arlington, TX has 1 (817) 275=2381
Wesley Obsolete Parts, Liberty, KY has 3 (606) 787-5293

Dennis Carpenter, Concord, NC also has 1 but they have it listed under C60Z-18476-B, the third digit is "zero" instead of the correct letter "O". (704) 786-8139
Additional C6OZ-18476-B heater core applications:
1966/70 Falcon w/o A/C / 1966/72 Fairlane/Torino w/o A/C / 1971/73 Mustang/Cougar w/o A/C
Heater core w/ factory A/C or hi-low comfort vent system

Change the evap or heater core on a 1997-2003 f-150, talk about a PITA! Its the first thing they put on the truck and then build around it!
