95 7.3 code reader
Hi all i have a 95 f250 (built 6/95) i hooked up my obd2 scanner to check codes and could not pull codes it lights up syncs but never displays codes. I had my trans go into limp mode ( hard shift od light blink) wanted to see if codes stored but nodda. I was also running the ac was thinking maybe clutch fan.
Other things that are weird is cruise. When i am climbing a hill cruise tries to keep up but when it gets below a out 5 mph preset the cruise kicks off. When i first bought the truck (3 months ago 3000 140k) the speedo was bouncing but only does that very little now (speeds of 55-65 mph rest is range is ok).
This truck has obd2 connector
Code scanner is hft OBD II Scanner - CAN & OBD II Deluxe Scan Tool works well with other cars- trucks
So list is
Pull codes
Correct limp mode
Correct speedo (i beleive these are tied together )

'94 through '96 factory PCM's did not have the channel open for obdII. it can only be used if the channel has been opened, most have been opened through the years but not all. the '95 I sold a couple years ago hadn't been opened, I just replaced it with my '97 pcm and sold it.
Where do i plug the antenna lol

I was looking for a code scanner since January 2014. The only one I found that fully addresses our situation and does NOT cost over $1000 is made by AutoEnginuity.com. I ordered it this morning from AutoEnginuity Scan Tool Software SP01/SP03/SP05/SP06/SP07 Ford/Chevy/Cummins
Paid $360 for the scanner and the "Total Ford Bundle" which has the OEM codes you are going to need. You have to get the Ford Bundle because the 94.5 - 97.5 year F250/350 7.3L trucks are NOT OBD2. You can read about it on my personal web page (F250 - Welcome to TheGilmores.com)... so no OBD2 codes can be pulled, and in most cases when you connect a code reader to it the thing will appear to not work at all. Only a very limited number of OBD1 codes can be gotten, and that's after you get what ever code reader you have to communicate properly.
These trucks are OBD1 but have OBD2 connectors, so they're essentially mutants as far as codes are concerned... and not the good kind of mutant either.
In summery you don't have any real cheap options below $360. HOWEVER, the the good news is that AutoEnginuity's scanner along with the Ford Bundle enables us regular guys to still do darn near everything without dropping over $1K for professional grade equipment.
