X2 on ck the carb linkage for a problem and look for something catching on the bottom side of the air filter. Did you put a chrome one on it? You might need a spacer to raise it back up.
And ck the throttle return spring, you can put one inside another to get a lot more tension.

If it was front end collision you could have moved the firewall and throttle linkage back slightly without the motor moving back creating a bind .. adjust the rod length accordingly .. Was the hood moved back?

yes i have investigated and damages have been assesed and paid for. its a mechanical choke and chrome air cleaner but thats not it. the impact was on the bumper only, pushing on the bottom of the grill.
