Will all your front sheet metal line up to the 56 cab? i.e., fenders, hood, etc...

Except for the wind deflectora and grill (the 53 radiator mount horseshoe does not have the cross rod bracing but is otherwise the same/interchangable) all the front sheet metal is the same 53-56. The hood hinges are different, but the 56 hinges will bolt up to the 53 hood with the 56 shoulder bolts.

As AXracer said everything is the same except the hinges and head light buckets.

In this picture with the old cab I was going to use a one piece air deflector and a 55 grill. With the 55 grill there is no need for head light buckets.

Here is the front sheet metal with a 56 air deflector with buckets.

That's some fancy air deflector! Don't leave out the rubber ones between the underhood and top of the deflector and the one that seals between the gravel pan and deflector bottom.

I finished running the fuel lines and brake lines while the cab was being worked on.

Cab back from body shop. It was roughed in, primered and firewall was painted so that it could be mounted.

I had the under side of the cab sprayed with truck bed liner.

After trying several different colors I chose Lexus Indigo Pearl .

I found a pair of NOS rear fenders that were painted but never installed.

Before starting on the front sheet metal I painted the ignition box and mounted it and the fuel regulator.

Looks great! Nice score on the fenders, they look to be in excellent shape.

I hung the front sheet metal to get an idea of the lines of the truck

The original running boards were in bad shape so I ordered a pair from mid fifty. The edges on these are very defined as opposed to originals.

It came with the radiator. I got it from Mid Fifty. I'm sure they would tell you if you call them.

The running boards stick out too far for my liking so I decided to take out 1 1/2 ". I used the blue painters tape to decide how much to remove.

Mocked up before finish work.

On the floor you can see how much was removed.

Finished product.

I've never seen the running boards narrowed like that. Looks good!
