You guys are still talking about the truck, right?

Seriously, that's a good looking rolling chassis. Is that a boxed/modified factory frame or after market with a few original pieces?

Boxed original. One of the reasons I bought this truck was because of the chassis and motor work. The sheet metal was OK but the cab turned out to bad. More about that later.

Mocking up the fuel cell. Later changed to a Aeromotive Stealth fuel cell with the pump in the tank after having clearance issues with the external pump.

Found an open box Flowmaster 2.5 inch U fit stainless exhaust on the bay for $200. Mocked it up using a card board box muffler as a substitute for a 40 series.

Installed Ford Racing ceramic shorty headers and fabbed down pipe and h pipe. Oh and yes that is a FAST EZ Fuel Injection throttle body. :-)

Exhaust installed and ready to be welded. On to the back half of the chassis.

Prepped and painted rear half of chassis.

Figuring out fuel injection computer placement. FAST recommends keeping it as far away from electronic ignition as possible.

Decided to mount under dash behind glove box.

I decided to switch to a stock cab. I was extremely lucky to find a mostly rust free cab only twenty miles from my house ! I purchased a new bed with mini tubs and fenders from Hot Rod's F100 parts.

I went with mini tubs to keep it all steel and still fit some meats under it. New fuel cell fit nicely leaving just enough room for exhaust.

I chose to mount the master cylinder under the dash to keep firewall clean. I could not put it under the cab due to the exhaust.

I bought the mounting kit from Scott's Hot Rods and mounted it to 2x2 boxed steel support.

After test fitting the cab and bed it was off to be sand blasted. The cab was in excellent shape.

As nice as the cab is this is where the build takes a crazy turn. I bought a chop kit from Mid Fifty and was discussing it with the body shop guy.

He stated the obvious that a 56 cab looks better and doesn't necessarily need chopped. I agreed and he dropped a bomb on me and said he had a half finished 1956 Effie project he might sell. Why he waited to tell me this after I had been hunting for a solid truck for over a year I don't know . ( Maybe he is just smarter than me )

Long story short I negotiated a price and bought it. The cab and doors were as nice or nicer than the 53. Since I already had a great frame and powertrain I decided to use the 56 cab on the 53 chassis.

Since the body shop already had the 56 cab there I had him finish it instead.

I now have a 1953 with a really nice cab and 3" chop kit for sale!
