have a coolant leak, not sure if it is water pump or the heater line pipe the whole front cover is wet... The heater pipe is the highest point of wetness. Is this pipe common to leak? Bad o ring or replace pipe? I have a new water pump. Thanks
A coolant leak can be a difficult one to find because of the air movement the fan creates. It doesn't take much of a leak to get it all over the engine compartment. Ugh! I have found sometimes if you allow the engine to reach normal temp, then shut it off and search the suspected area it may spurt coolant with the 16 psi.
I cleaned off the suspected leak area and drove it for a bit and it is leaking from the bottom side ( opposite of the bolt) kinda hard to see in the pictures. So I ordered the hose and will start with that.
As for what's been done lately I'm not sure. It was bought new in January of 04 in San Diego and had one owner till October of 13 and has been floating around the auctions till we bought it.
One thing you can do is get an adaptor cap and a pressure
regulator. Then drain the coolant and put about 10 PSI air
pressure into the system and look and listen for a leak.
One thing that really shows an air leak is the bubble juice
you get for blowing bubbles. Just dribble it where you think
that the air that you are putting in is leaking out at and you
get bubbles.
Here is the tool adaptor set you need to get.
They had to order them for me. The cost was $30.00
I planed on keeping them from the start, but you know
how the program works. Bring it back in so many days and
you get you money back.
The one is for the tank and the other is for the cap. That
way you can test both. That is how I found my bad cap.
I think it popped at about 9 PSI.
I got luck and was not blowing any coolant. The system
checked out and held pressure and vacuum just fine.
