Dash CMD IPad / Iphone

Looking to purchase either a scan tool for DTC Codes or use the DashCmd application for IPhone or IPad with iob2 wifi wireless. With the EGT Sensor failures that can leave 6.7 dead in the water I purchased a spare sensor now looking for the scanner to identify and erase the code? Anyone use the DashCmd for their IPhone any problems?

Bump back to top, anyone use the DashCmd program with iOB2 wireless with Android or IPhone?

I use a Phone APP called Torque Pro. I can monitor the 4 EGT sensors, haven't had a bad sensor so I can't tell you what it would do? I assume that it would show me no data on the gauge and a DTC code?

I've used Dash Command with my iPhone. Works fine.

I personally prefer to just have a cheap windows laptop in the truck that can run ForScan.
FORScan Home
It can do a lot more than Dash Command (airbag codes etc.)

Does the Torque Pro app allow you to clear codes.? With a failed EGT sensor I want the app to tell me the code to identify which of the 4 has failed, plus the ability to clear the code. Thanks for the feedback

I see where Forscan is developing a iOS platform, this would be good since I'm a iPhone / iPad user. Thanks for the response.

The App allows you to read and clear codes, I don't know if the EGT codes will show up? I'm assuming they will, if they are a standard "P" code. I can watch the EGTs as a graph gauge in real time so I'm assuming if I have problems, I'll see which one is not sending correct data to the PCM? I know that when EGT2 is above 1150 degrees, the truck is in Regen. I have a regular gauge that sets off an alarm at that temperature to tell me if I miss the 3 second message.

I personally think Torque Pro is a better app than Dash Command, but its only available on Android devices. Dash Command does pretty much the same stuff but on iOS devices.

So after browsing sampsung apps on my android I downloaded the free version of Dash Command and the free Torch Pro. Dash command seems to be amazing levels of information. I do need to buy the wireless/wifi OBD II device. Many out there and I've seen prices from $15 to one for $69 that I liked on Amazon. Is anyone using the Dash Command and the OBD device over bluetooth. Is there a chance you could change a factory setting , i. e .shift points. Would the dealer ever see truck computer changes and void your warranty.

I don't think you can change shift points with the Dash Command? (I'd be surprised if you can at least...). Even if you can, after a few times running the vehicle with the device disconnected it will revert to factory.

This was the Bluetooth OBDII ELM327 device I purchased:

Haven't really dug into all the custom workings of a $5 App, but I believe that the ELM adapter is connected to the MS-CAN BUS and some other information is only available on the HS-CAN BUS? That said, I've read that some folks have hard wired the adapter to access different pins on the OBD2 port by adding a toggle switch in the adapter.

WARNING: This is where I should warn you!! that the App mostly sends a request for data except when it asked to clear a code, If you send a command to change some parameter in the PCM, you might corrupt the PCM or another module that might render the module useless and will have to replace it and have it re-programed at the dealer. Of course I'm guessing, but there is a risk I believe.

With forscan can you put the vehicle into learn the keys mode?

I only have one key, I bought a replacement and it is cut. Now I have to get the truck to recognize it.

Yes, for the newer keys you can program and de-program them with Forscan

AWESOME. I would rather spend the $55 the dealer wants towards the OBD adapter.

BTW, careful spelling forscan in your ios device. It autocorrected to foreskin.

THANKS...

I think I overpaid for the ELM327 adapter. I just ordered the bluetooth one online for $5 shipped.
